It was probably my Canadian roots and long cold winters that initially attracted me to the sewing machine – a warm indoor activity that provided hours of working with scraps of fabric my mother had left over from curtains she had made.
After moving to California I studied pattern making and draping. I had also put in an application at a costume rental house and received a phone call from them offering me work as a Costumer on a major film. I was initiated into the Costumers Union and so began my career in film and television.
After several years in the film business, while raising a toddler, I decided it was time to focus on my child. Finding myself back in the house for long stretches, I was again drawn to my sewing machine.
I love working with the rich color and texture of vintage , retro barkcloth and tapestry fabrics and I bring these pieces to the public with the hope that you too will enjoy my labor of love and passion for detail.
