Christopher Royal
A native of North Carolina, Christopher Royal moved to Chicago after graduating from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and began an artistic career that has spanned 25 years. Royal’s miniature sculptural pieces have been carried in over 400 fine stores and galleries across the US, Europe and Asia. Over 60 museum shops have carried Royal’s work across the country including MOMA in New York and San Francisco, and The Museum of Contemporary Art here in Chicago. Mr. Royal worked for many years as the in-house sculptor for Tiffany & Co and during his time there helped to create numerous award winning window displays. In the fall of 1998, Royal began a partnership with art furniture manufacturer Rockledge Design Studios and developed a line of avant guard furniture and accessories. He has been a principal designer for the company for the past 14 years. In addition to his design duties at Rockledge and his extensive private commission work Royal is also a scenic painter and sculptural artist in the art department of Harpo studios and has created countless scenic elements for The Oprah Winfrey Show and The Rosie Show. In the fall of 2010 Royal was commissioned by the city of Chicago to paint a permanent mural. This work entitled “The Faces of Chicago” graces the north entrance of the Rogers Park Metra station.
